PESHAWAR: 

To prevent damages to agriculture land from seasonal flooding, the political administration on Tuesday completed the construction of flood protection spurs in Kashwa Killi and a gabion in Khowar Killi, lower Kurram Agency.

A press release issued by the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) Secretariat’s directorate of information said in response to the damages caused to people’s properties and livestock from seasonal flooding, the political administration has constructed a total of 152-metre-long spur for the protection of Kashwa Killi community.

The construction will not only safeguard agricultural land but also protect the Gamon Bridge from future damage.

Additionally, a 137-metre-long gabion 30-metre-long flood protection spur was constructed in Khowar Killi, read the statement.

Flood protection measures will protect hundreds of acres of fertile farmland from erosion and thereby improve the community’s yield and livelihood, benefiting approximately 6,500 individuals, said the press release. The projects were completed by hiring skilled and unskilled local labour and using locally available materials, it added.

Community elders thanked the political administration for responding to their basic needs well in time.
